Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto - Summvs

Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto - Summvs
raster-noton

The sound of nearby water, the way air changes, subtly indicating a change in the landscape; Summvs by Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto has exactly this quality. While entirely cerebral, this recording maintains a continuity. I'm not sure what this could be the soundtrack to, but when I know the likelihood of missing the relevance is very real.

Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alvo Noto are both prolific and internationally respected artists; Sakamoto a composer, producer, pianist, etc, and Noto a sound and installation artist known for sampling and mixing banal sounds of life and sequencing them as rhythms for song structures. Working together in the past, they've stayed the course of hypnosis and arc. This album will tell you a story, if cogitation is your thing.

The special part of this record is it's non reliance on gimmick of sound. Never a moment without total lucidity; this release is composed, and urbane.
